Sweden’s XOV is entering the global arena with a bang: His song “Animal” is featured on the soundtrack for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.”

Curated by Lorde, the soundtrack features the likes of Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, and Tove Lo, along with Lorde herself. XOV is a relative newcomer in comparison. He had released only a handful of “naked” teaser tracks when the soundtrack was in production, but those teasers were enough to make a fan out of Lorde and convince her that he was ready for the big leagues. After some long-distance brainstorming sessions between the two, “Animal” was born, and XOV found himself sharing space with pop royalty on one of the most buzzed-about albums of 2014 and walking the red carpet with Hollywood royalty at the movie’s premier.
