Drop City Yacht Club (formerly The Freshmen) has gone nowhere but up since we featured the band as an unsigned pick in September 2010. First, it aligned with one of the most successful independent labels in the industry, signing a deal with Across The Universe/Downtown Records. Now, it’s taken things a step further, signing a major label deal with A&M/Octone Records, home to artists like K’naan, Maroon 5, and The Knocks.

The band has been turning out major-label-quality material since its early DIY days in the Bay Area. Now that it actually has the major label backing to boot, expect big things ahead.
